Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice

What is it?: Aloe Vera Juice

Origin: Natural

Regulatory: Certified organic, BioGro

Aloe Vera is well known for its wonderful skin-soothing and moisturising properties. It is also said to be a powerful healing agent, have anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, and help to boost the skin's ability to produce collagen.

We use organic certified Aloe Vera extract in our products, a very fine, creamy white powder that when mixed with water is equivalent to Aloe Vera juice. One gram of Aloe Vera powder is the equivalent of 200g of fresh Aloe Vera juice.

Aloe Vera powder is prepared with minimal disruption from the inner portion of the Aloe leaf. The pulp and fibre is carefully removed, the juice is then pasteurised and concentrated utilising low-temperature evaporation.

It is then freeze-dried to produce a product without additional additives or preservatives. Freeze drying preserves most of the long-chain polysaccharides found in the fresh leaf.

Bakuchiol also has the desirable effect of reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Due to its similar actions, Bakuchiol is often touted as a natural alternative to retinol and can be used in conjunction with retinol containing products. It is even suggested that two may act synergistically to achieve improved results. Bakuchiol's calming properties may help to improve skin tolerance for retinol.

Retinol is not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Whilst research has not fully determined if Bakuchiol may be used in these circumstances, the chemical difference with retinol is significant enough that it may not present any issues. Consultation with a healthcare professional is advised though if you are considering using Bakuchiol containing products whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.

Mel

What is it?Mānuka Honey

Origin: Natural

Regulatory: Certified Organic Bio gro

Mānuka honey is world renowned for its non-peroxide anti-bacterial and antiinflammatory properties, which act synergistically to calm and soothe inflamed skin. There are mounting studies that associate these attributes to the abundance of unique polyphenols within Mānuka honey.

Mānuka honey is produced by bees collecting the nectar and pollen from the Mānuka  flower, only blooming a few weeks in the year within the pristine forests in New Zealand. The bees transform this unique nectar into iconic Manuka honey.

Unlike any other country, New Zealand has a scientific definition of Mānuka honey.

What separates Mānuka  honey from the conventional kind is the high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO) as well as the presence of Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) & Leptosperin.

Methylglyoxal (MGO) is proposed to be responsible for the strong antibacterial properties present in Manuka honey.

Mānuka  honey counts with renowned international recognition due to the therapeutic compounds it contains, such as antioxidants, amino acids, minerals and vitamins.

These elements work towards fortifying the health and quality of the skin by gently exfoliating the skin while also hydrating, plumping and preventing dryness. This, as a result, helps stimulate the production of collagen which helps the skin maintain its elasticity, firmness and youthful appearance.

It also contains high levels of methylglyoxal and numerous B-vitamins which help promote cell health, reduce inflammation and provide antibacterial activity. As a result it may help decrease blemishes, redness, flare-ups and acne.
