Does the word SIORA have a meaning?

SIORA draws its meaning from the Spanish word “sí” (yes), and the Te Reo Māori word “ora” (alive, healthy, healed, fit) 

For us, is our promise to our customers to deliver a sense of vitality, wellbeing and rejuvenation with every product. 

 

Are SIORA products organic or natural?

The ingredients we use are ‘natural’ by definition, naturally derived or organic. 

In exceptional cases, some of our fragrances are made by mixing natural and/or nature identical isolates from other essential oils.

We focus on incorporating hypoallergenic ingredients that undergo minimal processing, are additive free and are scientifically validated to deliver high quality results.

 

What is SIORA’s approach to the environment?

At SIORA we actively seek innovative solutions to be genuinely sustainable and eco-friendly. We are continuously improving our practices with  integrity and transparency and are committed to finding and sharing solutions that protect the environment and provide maximum health benefits to our customers. 

Our current environmental priorities include but are not limited to:  

  • Utilising sustainable packaging components  
  • Ensuring ethical and sustainable sourcing of raw materials 
  • Offsetting operational carbon emissions that cannot be avoided

Ethical and sustainable formulations

Our products are made from sustainably sourced ingredients from natural origin. We endeavour to ensure our suppliers use sustainable processes, and provide fair and safe working conditions for their employees. 


Packaging ethos / What materials do SIORA utilise in its packaging?

Our packaging components are made of biodegradable materials or recyclable materials. 

Our cosmetic jars are made of wheat straw biodegradable plastic, the latest eco-friendly material and an ideal zero waste option.

Our labels are made of recycled paper and don’t contain plastic. 


How does SIORA select ingredients for its products?

We have high standards when selecting and sourcing ingredients for our products. 

Our primary goal is to ensure that our products are sustainably produced and formulated using organic, natural and naturally derived ingredients of the highest quality.  

Accordingly, all ingredients utilised in SIORA formulations are extensively researched with respect to their safety, stability and efficacy. 

Because of our geographical position and heritage we primarily source our ingredients from the pristine New Zealand’s natural ecosystem and the Mediterranean region.  

 

Are SIORA products vegan?

No, they are not. Animal-derived ingredients (such as beeswax and honey) are used in SIORA products.


Are SIORA products tested on animals?

No, they are not. SIORA has never tested its products or ingredients on animals.


Do SIORA SPF protective products contain chemical sunscreen filters and preservatives associated with coral bleaching?

The UV filter utilised in our sunscreen products do not contain any chemical sunscreen filters and preservatives associated with coral bleaching.

Our formulas make use of a Zinc Oxide dispersion in Coco-Caprylate / Caprate that is currently certified as compliant with ECOCERT, an organic certification body.


Do SIORA products contain preservatives?

Yes, they do. Preservatives are a necessary part of all personal care formulations and crucial to the performance and longevity of our products.

We make use of preservatives that have an excellent safety profile and have a wide range of global regulatory acceptance. 

The main preservative we use is compliant with ECOCERT and COSMOS.

The presence of preservatives forms part of the ingredient list present in the product label.


Are SIORA products phototoxic?

Our night skincare range is designed to be applied solely at night when UV light is not present. Accordingly, SIORA products will not cause a phototoxic effect on the skin when used as stated by this guideline. 


Are SIORA products safe to use during pregnancy?

We recommend that you speak with your obstetrician or dermatologist should you have any concerns regarding your particular circumstances.


Does SIORA use Palm Oil?

No, SIORA products don’t make use of palm oil.

 

Do SIORA products contain Acrylates Copolymer?

SIORA products don’t contain Acrylates Copolymer.


Do SIORA products contain synthetic fragrance?

Our fragrances have been curated by using natural and organic essential oils, and natural extraction methods. 

In exceptional cases, some of our fragrances are made by mixing natural and/or nature identical isolates from other essential oils.


Do SIORA products contain plastic microbeads?

No, SIORA products don’t contain plastic microbeads or microplastics.


Do SIORA skincare products contain ingredients from a petrochemical source?

We do not use ingredients derived from crude oil, such as petrolatum or mineral oil, in any of our products formulated for the skin.


Do SIORA products contain Phenoxyethanol?

No, we don’t use phenoxyethanol in any of our skincare products.


Do SIORA products contain sulphates?

No, our products don’t contain sulphates.


How can I repurpose or recycle my SIORA jar?

We strongly encourage our customers to repurpose their SIORA packaging. Think of spices, herbs, dry nuts, hairpins, paper clips, pots for small plants, travel jewellery or any other storage use you can give them.  

Should you not have an ongoing use for your SIORA jar, you can dispose of your biodegradable wheat straw plastic jar in the trash or in your home compost. 

Any unwanted SIORA packaging component can be placed into recycling bins as these items are commonly recyclable. 


What if I have an adverse reaction to a SIORA product?

We recommend patch testing of our products prior to use. If an irritation or adverse reaction occurs, discontinue use and if necessary, consult with your medical practitioner to establish whether you have experienced an irritation or an allergy. 

In the unlikely event that you experience an adverse reaction to a SIORA product, please discontinue use and contact us.


Will SIORA products aggravate sensitive skin?

We recommend patch testing of our products prior to use. 

If you don’t experience an adverse reaction after patch testing, apply a small amount of product to your face. If your skin doesn’t react negatively, you can increase the amount of product.

If an irritation or adverse reaction occurs, discontinue use and if necessary, consult with your medical practitioner to establish whether you have experienced an irritation or an allergy. 

 

Do SIORA products have an expiry date?

SIORA products have a ‘best before’ date determined by the time of opening. This is illustrated by the jar icon present on the label. For example, 12M means that the product will be at its best for one year from the date of opening.

 

Can I use SIORA hydrating products under makeup?

Yes, SIORA hydrating products can be worn under makeup. 

You may like to trial with the time it takes for your SIORA product to fully absorb into your skin prior to applying makeup.


How should I store my SIORA products?

We recommend you to keep your products in a cool and dry place away from direct light and stored at below 25℃. 

We advise you to exercise hygiene and use clean hands when dipping into jars. You may want to use a spatula or teaspoon to scoop out product for use.
